Ferme Plein Soleil

Slowly, but surely.  This popular saying corresponds well with the evolution of these breeders.  The story begins with the purchase of the family farm in 1975 which constituted black cows of non identified breed! The same year, the three first purebred Ayrshires were integrated in the herd.  In 1976, the farm registers the animals NIP, then in 1983 the herd now totally Ayrshire starts on official milk recording. In 1988, one of the first Heligo daughters is born. One of this cow’s progeny is the herd’s first Brood Cow, Plein Soleil Havane, a Simsons Gambler ET daughter.  In 1995, Plein Soleil Jolie is born. She is a Lagacé Billy, a young sire daughter. A few years later, this heifer will become the first cow with the Plein Soleil prefix to be classified Excellent. This year, Ferme Plein Soleil enr., property of Corinne, Mario and Jean-Yves April celebrates its 30th year of Ayrshire breeding.  The use of young sires and various proven bulls made the herd progress quickly. Improvement of animal comfort and nutrition had a beneficial effect on the herd’s milk production.  Today, the Plein Soleil herd regroups cows with good conformation as well as good production in order to take advantage of longevity, a well known characteristic of the Ayrshire breed.
