Tribute to Mr. Simon Martel

Simon Martel

2007

Simon was born in 1952 on the Marylande farm in Ste-Elizabeth de Warwick. He studied at the ITA in Saint-Hyacinthe and, afterwards, started to work at Meunerie Ducharme. Simon still works for them today.

Let’s go back to Simon’s younger years, those years when he let the charming Francine, daughter of Madeleine and Yvan Lussier, conquer him. She captured his heart and they were married in 1974. They have one son, Jean-François who is studying at the University of Calgary.

His involvement with the Bois-Francs Ayrshire Club began as secretary in 1976 for a period of approximately 15 years. Simon was the one who orchestrated the very first Club Sale in 1978 and he stills helps out at every sale reading the pedigrees. He can be proud of having contributed to the sale of over 2000 Ayrshire head during these sales. Since 1976, Simon has always been present at the Club meetings and he is a great source of information. Thank you Simon for letting us profit from your great expertise.

We cannot omit that Simon, loyal to the breed, started his show career by leading animals for many exhibitors. He also had the task of preparing the animals. Simon is certainly not intimidated by commitments because he’s been involved a great deal in the Judging Schools. Simon has also judged many local and regional exhibitions. He has constantly graduated since, going from Expo Quebec in 1991, to being invited to show his great judging talents at the Quebec Spring Show in 1998 and finally the most prestigious judging honor, the Royal in 1994.

Although Simon is very involved in his work and with the Ayrshire breed, he knows how to save time for what he likes: Hockey. He is an unconditional admirer of his favorite goal tender, his son Jean-François. In his spare time, he likes to referee the Ducharme league and being the official announcer at the famous Warwick Atomes Yum Yum tournament.

For this burning enthusiasm that drives you in every task you undertake, we are proud to make you Honorary Member of Ayrshire Canada . Thank you for your great generosity and your important loyalty to the Ayrshire breed.
